The NYABC Story
As you may know, “bean counter” is the official nickname of those who work in the accounting profession—but there’s more to the story. Gagné Associates had a client that was deathly afraid of numbers and accounting. After two years of Bridgett finally getting her on board, she finally started working with us and she realized the power of accounting done right. The client had such a great experience with Bridgett and Jamie that she said, “You are “not your average bean counter.” The name stuck, became their calling card, and the Not Your Average Bean Counter ™ boot camp was born.

Our partners are both college level instructors with a passion for educating and developing others. Our curriculum is designed by a tenured Howard University Full Professor; which means we are not only teaching course materials but we are looking at learning outcomes and planning our curriculum so that when the participant finishes the training they can begin working.
We also provide support/coaching to the participants once they start working. We have extensive experience in client service as auditors and consultants so we know how to anticipate client needs, speak their language, and add value to the things that are most important to them.
We train our bookkeepers with an emphasis on creating added value for their clients like developing the financial literacy of their clients and having a ‘seat at the table’ mindset.
